Signs CSKA
At club level, Stoichkov spent six years at CSKA Sofia and became the top goalscorer in Europe in 1990, receiving the European Golden Shoe. He won 3 titles and lead the team to the semifinal of CWC against Barcelona in 1989. Stoichkov scored 3 goals in two games against the Spanish giants

Signs Barcelona
In 1990, he joined Barcelona where he earned the Spanish nickname “El Pistolero” (“The Gunslinger”), and was part of Johan Cruyff’s “Dream Team” that won four consecutive La Liga titles, one European Cup and one UEFA Super Cup. During his time at the club, he formed a lethal strike partnership with Romário. Cruyff was largely instrumental in bringing him to Barcelona where he quickly developed into one of the most prolific forwards in the world.

Wins Champion’s League
Stoichkov became the only Bulgarian to lift the European Cup (now Champion’s League). On 20th May at Wembley stadium Barcelona became champion of Europe for the first time in its history after winning 1-0 against Sampdoria.

4th Place On World Cup
Stoichkov was a member of the Bulgaria national team that finished fourth at the 1994 FIFA World Cup, of which he was the top scorer with six goals and received the World Cup Golden Boot.

Wins Ballon D’Or
Stoichkov was voted to the best player in Europe, winning the most valuable prize in football – Ballon d’Or. In the same year he was voted to the second best player in the world after Romario.
2004

Finishes His Career
On 31th May 2004 Stoichkov officially finished his career. Some of the greatest players of his generation took part in tremendous testimonial game at Camp Nou.

Turns 50
On 8th February Stoichkov turned 50. The real show came on 20th May. Stoichkov organized an incredible beneficial game at Vasil Levski stadium, inviting many great players. The match was played in front of 43, 000 fans. The stadium was sold out weeks before.
